Inter Zonal District Level Athletics Meet for AAG Girls Kicks Off

The Inter Zonal District Level Athletics Competition for All Age Group (AAG) Girls commenced today at the University of Jammu. This exciting event, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), District Jammu, aims to nurture talent and promote sportsmanship among young female athletes.

On the inaugural day, vibrant participation from approximately 300 girl athletes, representing both government and private schools, highlighted the enthusiasm for athletics. Participants showcased their strength, speed, and sporting spirit in a range of track and field events.

In the discus throw events, competition was fierce. Sweety Devi from Zone Marh clinched the gold in the U-19 category, while Konika Chib from Zone RS Pura secured silver, and Renu from Zone Bishnah took home bronze. In the U-17 category, Nidhi Verma from Zone Satwari triumphed, followed closely by Kiran Kumari from Zone Bhalwal and Nirjala from Zone Bishnah, with the top three positions filled with remarkable talent. The U-14 title went to Subhana of Zone Satwari, with Sonakshi of Zone Miran Sahib winning silver and Mansi from Zone Akhnoor capturing bronze.

The 100m races offered thrilling sprints. Damanpreet of Zone Bishnah dominated in the U-14 category, while Nishta Sharma from Zone Jammu led in U-17, and Shivani, also from Zone Jammu, claimed victory in the U-19 sprint.

The competition continued with the 400m events, where Sahiba Choudhary from Zone Dansal took first place in the U-14 category, and Nishta Sharma again showcased her prowess in the U-17 segment.

In the 300m race, Mehak, representing Zone Jammu, captured gold in U-19, while Sonia Choudhary from Zone Dansal took the top spot in the U-17. The high jump events saw remarkable feats with star performances from Shriya Bhagat (U-14, Zone Chowki Choura), Rohika Devi (U-17, Zone Chowki Choura), and Payal Kumari (U-19, Zone Chowki Choura), each winning gold in their respective age groups.

The event concluded with a medal distribution ceremony where DYSSO Jammu and esteemed technical officials, including Nirmal Singh, Chamel Singh, Sarabjeet Singh, Vijay Sharma, and Harsimran Singh, honored the top performers. They congratulated the winners, urging all athletes to uphold the values of dedication, discipline, team spirit, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
