In a spectacular display of cricket, Jammu and Kashmir’s cricket team, spearheaded by a fiery performance from Auqib Nabi, secured an emphatic innings victory over Rajasthan in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A match on Wednesday at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.
The match saw Rajasthan, resuming their second innings at a precarious 41 for 5, face the full brunt of Nabi’s blistering pace and precision. Exploiting the fresh pitch under lively morning conditions, the right-arm fast bowler dismantled the Rajasthan batting lineup with a phenomenal spell of 7 wickets for just 24 runs in 11 overs. His remarkable control over seam and swing left rival batters in disarray.
Teaming up effectively, Yudhvir Singh supported Nabi’s efforts, taking 2 wickets for 33 runs in 8.5 overs, as Rajasthan faced a dramatic collapse, managing only 89 runs in their second innings.
While Deepak Hooda contributed a fighting 28 and Deepak Chahar added 26, the rest of the Rajasthan batting order crumbled under the relentless attack from the Jammu and Kashmir bowlers.
Auqib Nabi’s exceptional all-round performance not only led his team to victory but also earned him the coveted Player of the Match award, solidifying Jammu and Kashmir’s reputation as a formidable team in domestic cricket.
Among those present to witness this historic occasion were BCCI President Mithun Manhas and Brig Anil Gupta, Member (Administration) of the JKCA. They applauded the team’s victory, calling it a “landmark achievement” for cricket in Jammu and Kashmir.
This impressive win represents a significant milestone in the region’s cricketing history. It underscores the burgeoning talent in Jammu and Kashmir and their unwavering resolve to compete at the national level.
