COIMBATORE — Rithanya Sivaram, a Class 12 student at The Indian Public School, has launched Vibrance Hub, a pioneering platform aimed at revolutionizing project-based learning and wellbeing practices for students. This initiative supports the educational transformation that India requires in an era dominated by artificial intelligence, where creativity and sustained innovation take precedence over traditional rote memorization.
Sivaram emphasizes the changing educational landscape, stating, “In the age of AI, information is commoditized. What matters now is what you can make, how you think, and whether you can sustain creative work over time.” The Vibrance Hub aims to provide students with the essential scaffolding and community to nurture long-term creative endeavors and innovation.
The initiative is built on MIT’s Lifelong Kindergarten framework—which encourages Passion, Projects, Peers, and Play—underscoring that maker education transcends mere construction. It cultivates computational thinking, resilience through continuous iteration, and collaboration—skills uniquely human and irreplaceable by AI.
Reflecting on India’s rich educational heritage, Sivaram draws parallels to the guru-shishya tradition, where students learned actively by doing rather than passively receiving knowledge. Before colonial influence transformed the system into rote learning, Indian education thrived on hands-on, experiential learning—students engaged in fields like metallurgy and astronomy through practical involvement.
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 advocates for the revival of this maker-centric approach. It stresses that India’s future hinges on the capacity for creation and innovation, steering away from conventional models that primarily produce information repeaters.
This sentiment aligns with the aims of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), initiated by NITI Aayog in 2016. The AIM serves as India’s push towards implementing a maker-centric philosophy on a national scale. It lays down a comprehensive framework to inspire creativity and innovation, establishing tangible resources for hands-on learning throughout the country.
By launching the Vibrance Hub, Rithanya Sivaram sets a vibrant precedent for younger generations, paving the way for a future where education intersects with creativity, collaboration, and wellness. As India positions itself for a competitive global landscape driven by AI, initiatives like Vibrance Hub signify a commitment to nurturing innovative thinkers who are equipped to contribute meaningfully to society.
