Doda Police Crack Motorcycle Theft Case Within 48 Hours

Doda, November 08, 2025: In a remarkable display of efficiency, Doda Police successfully cracked a motorcycle theft case just 48 hours after it was registered. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of the stolen motorcycle.

On November 5, 2025, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Assar by Omair Ullah Wani, whose motorcycle bearing registration number JK06A-6107 had been stolen from the Jathi area. The prompt action from Doda Police marks a significant step in their ongoing battle against vehicle theft.

Police recorded FIR No. 37/2025 under Section 302(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Assar station. Following the complaint, SSP Doda Shri Sandeep Mehta (JKPS) directed the formation of a special investigation team. Under the leadership of PSI Shivam Dev Singh and the supervision of DySP DAR Doda and SHO Police Station Assar, the team immediately commenced investigations.

Acting on specific intelligence, officers detained two suspects in the early hours of November 6. During detailed interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing the motorcycle on the night of October 26. They recovered the stolen vehicle from their possession.

The arrested individuals included Mohd Tariq @ Baffer, a resident of Bhagtha, Katra, District Reasi, and Munish Kumar, a resident of Bali Chanalra, Bhalesa, District Doda. Notably, Mohd Tariq is a habitual offender with a long criminal history and had been evading arrest.

Law enforcement officials highlighted that Mohd Tariq @ Baffer has multiple FIRs against him pertaining to thefts, burglaries, and drug offenses across various states. His history includes over 18 registered cases, showcasing his persistent criminal activities.

Authorities confirmed that Mohd Tariq had been wanted in numerous districts, including Reasi, Udhampur, Doda, Kangra, Dharamshala, Nurpur, and Shimla. The Hon’ble Court had issued an arrest warrant under Section 512 of the CrPC against him, emphasizing the seriousness of his alleged crimes.

The effective operation of the Doda Police exemplifies their steadfast commitment to ensuring public safety and order in the district. The team’s quick actions resulted in the apprehension of a repeat offender, reinforcing their mission to combat crime effectively.

SSP Doda Shri Sandeep Mehta remarked, “Doda Police is committed to acting firmly against repeat offenders and all criminal elements involved in theft and other unlawful activities. Swift investigation and timely action remain our top priorities to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.”

This successful operation not only recovers stolen property but also sends a strong message to potential offenders that law enforcement in Doda will act without hesitation against crimes like motorcycle theft.
