Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated the new Centre of Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital at Qamarwari in Srinagar today. He urged the medical community to provide accessible and affordable healthcare while connecting specialists with patients in rural regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Over the past decade, modern technologies have fundamentally transformed the eye care field, offering faster and more accurate diagnoses along with precise treatments,” said Shri Sinha. He highlighted that new technologies, particularly AI-powered systems, have significantly enhanced access to healthcare and personalized treatment options.
According to the Lieutenant Governor, AI-driven tools enable doctors to identify early signs of disease and various eye problems. “Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre, along with other hospitals, must leverage these advancements to deliver the same quality of care to the people of J&K as is available in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai,” he stressed.
Shri Sinha also discussed the remarkable improvements in Jammu and Kashmir’s healthcare sector in recent years. “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, we ensure that every citizen has access to quality healthcare. The rapid expansion of both Government and Private healthcare infrastructure paves the way for a healthy and prosperous future for every citizen,” he remarked.
He encouraged Dr. Agarwals Eye Centre and other medical establishments to organize free eye check-up camps throughout J&K, particularly in rural and border areas, embodying the spirit of selfless service. For a broader reach, he urged that services should include telemedicine, virtual consultations, and digital examinations.
Dr. Ashar Agarwal, Chief Business Officer of Dr. Agarwals Group of Eye Hospitals; Dr. Atif Ali Mir, Head of Clinical Services at Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital, Srinagar; and other doctors and staff members were present at the inauguration.
