4,873 Fruit Trucks Cleared in 2 Days; Another 500 Depart Qazigund

In a significant push for local agriculture, the Divisional Administration of Kashmir has cleared 4,873 fruit-laden trucks over the last two days. This operation directly supports fruit growers and traders by efficiently moving their produce. Supervised by IG Traffic, the evacuation included 2,239 trucks via the National Highway and another 2,634 trucks through the Mughal Road.

With the demand for timely transportation of fruits peaking, the administration is set to dispatch the last batch of 500 trucks from Qazigund by midnight tonight. This concerted effort aims to clear the backlog of stranded vehicles, enhancing the flow of traffic on the critical National Highway.

Support for Horticultural Producers

The Divisional Administration, led by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, has mobilized all available resources to expedite this crucial transportation. Under his vigilant eye, daily reviews with stakeholder departments have been conducted to ensure the restoration of highway operations and address the immediate concerns of local growers and traders.

Essential Commodities Transportation

Besides fruit trucks, the administration is focused on facilitating transport for essential commodities. This includes vital supplies such as LPG, petrol, diesel, fresh fruits, and vegetables, along with life-saving drugs. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to replenish local stocks and cater to community demand effectively.

As the operation continues, the emphasis remains on the need for cooperation among all stakeholders. The administration is encouraging timely communication from growers and traders to further streamline transportation efforts.

Statistics Highlighting the Effort

According to recent data, over 5,000 trucks are often stranded on local routes during peak seasons, particularly affecting the agriculture sector. This year, the extraordinary response from the Divisional Administration has marked a significant improvement.

“Our commitment to ensuring our horticultural sector thrives is unwavering,” said Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo. His team is keen on sustaining this momentum to streamline processes for the future.

What’s Next for Local Farmers?

As the last trucks are cleared tonight, attention will turn toward maintaining a steady flow of traffic. The Divisional Administration aims to create a systematic approach that reduces future delays, enabling local farmers to send their products to markets without hassle.

This operation serves as a reminder of the importance of swift administrative action in supporting the horticultural economy in Kashmir. With new protocols in place, stakeholders are optimistic about the future.
