Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Chairs UHQ Meeting Today

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will chair a crucial Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting at Raj Bhavan today, focusing on security issues in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting will convene at 11 am.

The UHQ serves as the high command for security and intelligence operations within the region. It plays a pivotal role in coordinating security measures involving various agencies and forces.

Sources indicate that tonight’s discussions will revolve around the current security scenario, particularly reviewing winter preparedness and the recent escalation along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan. These discussions aim to fortify J&K against security threats.

During the meeting, LG Sinha will receive briefings from top officials on the prevailing security situation in J&K, especially regarding the LoC and the international borders in the Union Territory (UT). It is critical to assess both strategic operations and immediate challenges facing security forces.

Notable attendees will include Army’s Northern Commander Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma, J&K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Chief Secretary Atal Duloo, and heads of various paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies. Their presence underscores the importance of a unified approach to security in the region.

Previously, in May 2023, LG Sinha chaired the last UHQ meeting following the success of ‘Operation Sindoor.’ At that time, he directed security agencies to conduct “precise, intelligence-led operations” aimed at neutralizing terrorists and dismantling their “support cells.”

This upcoming meeting exemplifies the ongoing focus on security within J&K, especially as winter approaches and tensions can exacerbate existing security challenges.
