Yogi Adityanath: ‘Political Islam’ Undermines Hindu Faith, Overlooked

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the overlooked influence of political Islam on Hindu faith during an event in Gorakhpur on Tuesday. He noted that while colonial histories often dominate discussions, the profound impact of political Islam on Sanatan Dharma remains largely unexamined.

Addressing attendees at the ‘Vichar-Parivar Kutumb Sneh Milan’ and ‘Deepotsav Se Rashtrotsav’ programmes, organized to celebrate the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Adityanath called attention to the valiant efforts of historical figures like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Guru Gobind Singh, and Maharana Pratap. He stated that these warriors fought against political Islam, yet their struggles are often overlooked in contemporary historical narratives.

“Our ancestors waged major struggles against political Islam, yet this aspect of history remains largely overlooked,” Adityanath declared, urging for a more balanced discourse that includes the ideological challenges posed by political Islam.

The chief minister highlighted the importance of the RSS in the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He stated, “While discussions often focus on resistance against colonialism, they frequently ignore the ideological threats posed by political Islam.”

Adityanath elaborated on the significance of honoring the struggles of historical heroes. “There is prolific discussion of British and French colonialism, but we seldom reflect on political Islam, which has significantly undermined our faith,” he asserted.

Recognizing the sacrifices made by RSS volunteers during the long-standing fight for the Ram temple, Adityanath remarked, “While members of the Samajwadi Party, Congress, and the INDIA bloc undermined the temple’s significance, RSS volunteers unwaveringly maintained their resolve.”

He recounted the difficulties faced by RSS workers, who endured violence and suppression during their pursuit of the temple’s establishment. “Today, the magnificent Ram Temple stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment,” he said.

Additionally, Adityanath criticized ongoing activities promoting political Islam, suggesting that these movements continue to flourish under various guises that threaten communal harmony.

Illustrating his government’s strong stance, he mentioned that Uttar Pradesh has enforced a ban on Halal-certified products. “Profits from such sales have been linked to conversion, love jihad, and terrorism,” he claimed, underlining the necessity for vigilance against forces perceived as threatening societal values.

Regarding the RSS centenary initiatives, Adityanath outlined five transformative pillars vital for India’s progression: social harmony, family values, environmental protection, fostering self-reliance through indigenous products, and enhancing civic duty. He asserted these principles as essential to developing a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

“For a developed society and a developed nation, society must lead, and the government must follow,” he concluded, reinforcing the notion that community efforts form the backbone of national development.

The chief minister’s statements highlight the ongoing discourse around political Islam and its perceived ramifications on Hindu culture and community relations in India.
